Fresh Approaches in Printmaking
An exchange of 13 Dutch visual artists and 13 Hungarian visual artists with 2 exhibitions in Budapest and Amsterdam is to take place this autumn, organised by the Art Union of Hungarian Engravers and Lithographers. The Union has been in existence since 1999 (with over 120 members), but is the legal successor of the original organisation established in 1921. Their workshop and the Gallery IX both operate in Ráday Street, a new and lively hub for art in Budapest. So far, the Union has had exchange exhibitions with ‘The New York Society of Etchers’, ‘Trace’ (Paris), ‘Il Quadrato di Omega” (Rome), and' 'Taidegraafikot’ (Turku, Finland). This particular project is planned together with AGA (Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier). The Union, while preserving and practicing traditional printing methods, combine these with contemporary (digital and other) techniques.
