John Malkovich is about to film the novel entitled The Story of My Baldness (De geschiedenis van mijn kaalheid) written by the most successful young Dutch writer Arnon Grunberg. The novel, which was awarded with the Anton Wachterprijs, the prestigious annual prize to first novelists, displayed his pseudonym Marek van der Jagt. The fact that it was Grunberg behind the pseudonym attracted a huge interest in the literary life in the Netherlands, as he had not been a highly popular author despite having been awarded with the Anton Wachterprijs already, for his novel Blue Mondays.

The Story of My Baldness is about the quest by the protagonist (the author himself, bearing that pseudonym), a Vienna university student.
