Ramón Valle, Eric Vloeimans, Gábor Winand Trio - Mol Jazz Festival
This unusual trio promises to be one of the sensations of the festival. Eric Vloeimans, the most eloquent of contemporary Dutch trumpet players constantly brimming with ideas and versatility met his match when he played with the amazing Cuban pianist, Ramon Valle in Amsterdam. The two got on like a house on fire. Valle has this to say for himself: ‘I am a Cuban musician who falls within the category called “jazz”, but my music borders on many other musical forms’. Last year Valle linked up in Budapest with singer Gábor Winand who, without a doubt, is the most original jazz vocalist in Hungary, he’s certainly rated as such by the influential critics of the French magazine, Jazzman. This too proved to be a meeting of the minds. When suggested to Winand that the three of them should join forces at this festival, he jumped at the idea, and went to Holland to rehearse with the others extensively. Three such original players should be producing music bigger than the sum total of its parts!
